God Made Dirt…

Of my two girls, Melanie is the more fastidious when it comes to cleanliness. As for the eldest, Chessa, let’s just say that neatness is not high on her priority. A case in point, her room…

That room is like the black hole in our residence. Everything that has gone missing in our house has probably disappeared into that space and hasn’t seen the light of day since. Her room is also akin to a science lab gone awry. I half-expect a mutant creature to emerge from there at any moment, an unholy union between left-over food and noxious fumes. It can also be likened to an obstacle course or an episode of Survivor: The Amazons. If you’re brave enough to venture inside, you’re going to need more than a flashlight and a map to navigate your way. Yet Chessa flourished in this state of squalor with her usual cheerful disposition and total lack of care. If you call her attention to it , she will just crunch up her face and give you her famous Cheshire cat grin. She does go on sporadic cleaning frenzies every now and then, but on the whole, things there are pretty much, for lack of a better word, undisturbed.

One day, Chessa, Melanie and I were in the dining room just relaxing and munching on stuff. Chessa accidentally dropped her food. It might have been a cracker. I can’t remember exactly what it was. She promptly picked it up, dusted it off and popped it right inside her mouth. Melanie and I both shrieked in shock. Chessa calmly looked at us and said “What??? God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt. ”

With that remark, all three of us went ROFL. Rolling On The Floor Laughing…
Leave it to Chessa to think of a comeback like that!

What we take for granted everyday, you take and you weave it into one of your masterful pieces of literature. It is such a joy to read.

Did I ever tell you to switch professions? You should make this your day job and nursing as your hobby, Ms. Balberan-Lu ……

Thanks, Pya. Please feel free to post comments anytime…
Yes, there’s a lot who subscribe to Chessa’s rallying cry of “God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt.” Also the “live to eat” philosophy. As I had written, great minds think alike. LOL…
